Three hospitals within Pondok Indah Hospital Group (RS Pondok Indah Group), namely RS Pondok Indah - Pondok Indah, RS Pondok Indah - Puri Indah, and RS Pondok Indah - Bintaro Jaya, became the first three hospitals in Indonesia to achieve Stage 6 Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) validation from Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS)

Three hospitals within Pondok Indah Hospital Group (RS Pondok Indah Group), namely RS Pondok Indah – Pondok Indah, RS Pondok Indah – Puri Indah, and RS Pondok Indah – Bintaro Jaya, became the first three hospitals in Indonesia to achieve Stage 6 Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) validation from Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
This achievement strengthens the commitment of RS Pondok Indah Group to provide the best health services that prioritize quality, security, safety, and patient’s comfort by relentlessly carrying out digital transformation through optimization, efficiency, and continuous integration efforts. This is also in line with the Indonesian government's efforts to encourage digitalization of the health industry towards the 2024 Digital Health Transformation Strategy.
To date, only 3 hospitals managed by RS Pondok Indah Group have successfully achieved EMRAM validation from HIMSS, in Indonesia. In Southeast Asia, a total of 7 hospitals have been actively validated EMRAM Stage 6 and 7 from HIMSS. Apart from RS Pondok Indah Group, two other hospitals are located in Singapore, and the other two are in Thailand. Globally, more than 300 organizations have achieved EMRAM Stage 6, and more than 200 organizations have achieved Stage 7.
EMRAM is a system that measures digital maturity of hospitals worldwide, with Stage 0 as the lowest and Stage 7 the highest level. Achieving EMRAM Stage 6 reflects that the hospital is on its way to achieving a fully paperless patient record environment and using Information Technology in a smart way to improve care quality, safety, and efficiency.
Chief Executive Officer of RS Pondok Indah Group, dr. Yanwar Hadiyanto, MARS said, “This achievement represents our commitment in increasing patient satisfaction through sustainable service quality improvement. We believe that one of the important factors to make this happen is through digital transformation. Stage 6 HIMSS EMRAM validation supports our continuous innovation and digitalization efforts at RS Pondok Indah Group. In the digital transformation process, RS Pondok Indah Group has integrated all supporting services such as laboratories, pharmacy, and radiology with patient’s electronic medical records, integrated various kinds of software and hundreds of medical devices, and implemented IT security to ensure that 95-100 percent of medical documentation is done and structured digitally, and supported by systematic clinical decision support.”
RS Pondok Indah Group utilizes HIMSS EMRAM Level 6 validation to optimize the digital work environment which is expected to improve patient safety and satisfaction. By providing access to important data and information when needed, doctors will be assisted in making patient care plans decisions based on their medical history, minimizing the risk of errors in patient care, and maintaining the confidentiality and security of patient medical data.

Nina Windu Kirana as Chief of Financial and Technology Officer of RS Pondok Indah Group, said, "Through digital technology, in this case the use of electronic medical records (RME), we strive to improve patient safety and service quality by providing convenience for doctors and medical personnel, in an effort to reduce treatment errors and multiple entry, simplify the work flow, and utilize digital data to optimize patient care.”
One of the important digitalization applications in achieving Stage 6 EMRAM is the closed loop administration, namely the process of releasing prescribed medicine, blood products, and pumped breast milk for inpatients and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients using a QR code scan system. With this technology, the 6 Right Medicine Administration aspects which include Right Patient, Right Medicine, Right Dosage, Right Time, Right Way, and Right Documentation can be done more accurately.
In addition, with clinical decision support, the system will actively provide notifications/alerts when the doctor is prescribing medicines for patients with certain conditions, e.g. patients with drug allergies, contraindications risk, or patients in pregnancy. This notification will be useful for doctors in making further medical decisions. As of today, the system has been applied in outpatient clinics, inpatient, Emergency, as well as ICU.
"The validation of HIMSS EMRAM Stage 6 is a great motivation for us to continue carry out a sustainable digital transformation to improve service quality, patient’s safety, and patient’s satisfaction. We hope to continue providing excellent health services, and be the hospital of choice amongst Indonesian people in the future," dr. Yanwar concluded.
